The Koopalings first appeared in Super Mario Bros 3, in which they stole the magic wands from
the kings of the Mushroom World and turned them
into Super Mario Enemies or wild animals.
After that they did appear in Super Mario World,
in which they trap a Yoshi Egg within a cage.
The Koopalings also made appearances in other Mario games, including Hotel Mario, Yoshi's Safari, and Mario is Missing!
